Upper Mustang trek is one of the most popular trekking destinations in Nepal which will take you to the restricted and isolated region of Nepal. The upper Mustang of Nepal is also known as the Mini Tibet in Nepal as the topography and culture of the region are similar to that of Tibet. You will visit the city of Lo Manthang which belongs to King Lo.

Lo Manthang has various historical importance where you will get to see the four-storied royal palace and many architectural designs. Lo Manthang is also famous for the Tiji Festival which lasts for 3 days. The red rock cliffs and high-altitude deserts are similar to Tibetan terrains and sandstone pillars. This trek will take you to the traditionally settled villages, Chortens, monasteries, and mani walls.

Day 1 : Arrival in TIA, Kathmandu Nepal (1,400m)

On your arrival, you will be warmly welcomed by Unique Sherpa Trek & Expedition representatives and transferred to the hotel where you will be meeting your guide and crew at the pre-meeting ceremony. In the meantime, our trekking experts will double-check out all pieces of the trekking essential gears to make sure everything is done before the trek gets started. In the evening, you may intend to explore the Thamel or walk around for the last minute shopping and preparations of the trip, overnight stay at the hotel,

Day 2 : High-Altitude Trek Prep: A Quick with Guide

Engage in regular cardio and strength training for enhanced stamina. Plan a gradual ascent, spending time at intermediate altitudes to acclimatize. Pack layers for temperature variations, including a waterproof jacket and moisture-wicking base layers. Opt for sturdy, well-broken-in hiking boots for ankle support. Ensure a comfortable, well-fitted backpack stocked with water, snacks, layers, a first aid kit, and a map. Bring a suitable sleeping bag and lightweight, insulated sleeping pad if camping.

Day 3 : Flight or Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (822m)

Flight to Pokhara (Approximately 20-25 minutes):

Flying or driving to Pokhara from Kathmandu is a common and convenient way to reach this picturesque city. The flight departs from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu. Several domestic airlines operate daily flights to Pokhara, including Yeti Airlines, Buddha Air, and Simrik Airlines. The flight takes approximately 25-30 minutes, offering stunning views of the Himalayas, including the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. Flying is the quickest way to reach Pokhara and is particularly suitable for travelers with limited time.

Down Jacket: You could take on rent in Kathmandu if you don’t have

Thermal Baselayer Set: It is your second skin; bring the best quality (2 sets)

Fleece Pullover Hoodie: keeping you warm even if moisture condenses on the inside when it rains.

Light Weight Thermal Tops: It is comfortable when you don’t use a base layer

Waterproof Jacket and paints: recommended water, rain, and snowproof (if in case of bad weather)

Hiking Shorts: At lower altitudes and under the sun, it can be comfortable

Hiking T-Shirt: For lower altitude

Hiking Pants: Lightweight quick-drying paints (no jeans please)

Gloves: It is recommended to bring two pairs, a light one and a heavyweight water/windproof

Sports Bra for Her: A good sports bra is recommended when you are hiking

Woolen Hat: This is handy when it’s getting cold in the evening and morning.

Hiking Boots: Ankle support, waterproof (running shoes are not recommended)

Sandals or Running Shoes: In the mornings and in the evenings in the teahouse (running shoes or even sandals will be fine)

Hiking Socks: Good-quality hiking socks should keep your feet dry and comfortable. Bring enough socks

Inner Socks: You could wear thin inner socks to support your hiking socks.

Snow gaiters: in case of bad weather and snowing

Duffle Bag: Waterproof and about 70L. We recommend this only if you are going to use Porter. Green Valley Nepal Treks will provide a duffel bag if you book Nepal Trekking with us on your arrival in Kathmandu.

Rucksack with Rain Cover: If you plan to carry your stuff during the trekking, we recommend you bring a comfortable (back support) 50 to 60L rucksack with rain cover.

Daypack with Rain Cover: Whether you use a porter or not, a day pack is necessary for your trekking trip in Nepal. Recommended daypack size is 25 to 30L with rain cover.

Trekking Poles: It is optional but if you know how to use it, then it can help your knee and joints.

Sleeping Bag: Recommended at least for -20 DC, Green Valley Nepal Treks will be provided at our pre-meeting if you don’t have your own (if you book the trip with us)
